It is recommended by Amazon. My first search is "Color Atlas and Text of Endodontics. After reading a few pages, it makes me love of it. I will keep on reading until the last page of the book. It is very happy to have this book.

A remarkable, unforgettable story that will have you wanting more!

Oh Wow!

This book was worth the wait! I tried to read it slowly, I even forced myself not to start reading it right away; but damn it I just couldn't. This book, this series, is just too good.

Right out of the gate we're trusted into madness as our fearless clumsily hero, Aurora, scrambles about trying to fight off killer demon's, that she can only see, while trying to salvage the date her and Aden are on. There is fast solid action, gun fire, explosions and just play old crazy. The kicker, this all happens in the first few chapters. Talk about an entrance. It was glorious!

We're also introduced to some new characters, well one character in perceptual, dreamy Christiano. In truth I wasn't to keen on him at first, but damn it was hard not to get distracted by his hotness and his slurry ways. I have a new crush, Team Christiano, don't worry Jayden I have room in my heart to a multitude of fiction male characters.

But, my real enjoyment is the interactions between the Hex boys. Growing up with brothers, crazy cousins, a metal family, and now in the Military working mostly with men, it's a warm fuzzy to read such real interactions and witty banter. It brings back memories and gets me laughing like a crazy person (my dad has given me few WTF looks while reading this wonder). Not only the banter, but the writing flows in this off-rhythm smoothness that isn't like anything I have ever read before. I don't believe I have witness a story, either written or in media (movies. TYV) where there are no plot holes. This is dedication to the craft and a love of writing that shows through, in this work of crazy art.

Then there is Aurora, oh Aurora, how do you managed to tie your shoes and come out unscaved? You're like the most luckily and unluckiest person that ever walked the face of the earth, and will, hell. A cockroach got nothing on you my dear. Besides her weird ability test the bodies limited on thriving to survive, Aurora's mind is on another plain. I love it! You know what else I love? She always give her unknown assailants nicknames. Razor Rick, Armani, ha! Spectacular!

Besides her being bluntly awesome, she is, to me, real. She isn't perfect, she gets afraid and she doesn't always win. There is scene where her PTSD is triggered, how she reacted, the flashbacks, and fear that surged all at once had me catching my own breath and wishing I could help. These are the moments that makes the story more then just a story. It brings the reader there, with our hero, connecting our hearts and feeling their pain. It is this ability that makes a story remarkable, unforgettable, rather then another okay read stocked in the back and soon forgotten from our short attention span minds.

Now I would like to touch on the principal, Angie Clarke. She wasn't a big character and didn't have a lot of screen time, but she was a character I named because I was lucky enough to win a giveaway that was host last year, through the blog tour of Drop Dead Demons. I'm please (giggly really) with this character and happy to see my friend's name forever immortalized in the written word. Sadly Angie passed away six years ago of heart failure. She was 19, sick most of her life, but lived like most of us don't. I never knew a girl more alive, bright and kind. She would've loved the character A&E Kirk conjured up. Thank you, she's alive again, living in your wonderful, crazy world, where anything can and will mostly likely happen.

I highly recommend this book, this series. There isn't anything out there like it, and believe me I know, I make it my mission to search for these hidden original gems that get lost among the cookie cutter clutter that is YA. You will get hooked on this series, and you will never find another book like it.

Loved the Book...

I finally finished reading the book. I have to admit I loved it. This book is nonstop action from the very beginning. The book starts off with Aurora waiting for Ayden at a restaurant cuz she's on a date and well, what's a date without some demons, eh? And so it begins... :)

Lots of ups and downs. There are some new characters added namely, Cristiano and Horus. I loved them both. Horus does not have much screen time in the book but whatever little there is he is just hilarious. His character is done well and I hope we get to see a lot of him in the next book. He is a straightforward, emotionally and socially awkward person but his heart is in the right place. Cristiano, hmmm...one word - Ahhmazing. I enjoyed reading about him a LOT. Not to mention, I really liked his and Aurora's chemistry together. It is on a different level than Aurora and Ayden. We're still not sure about Cristiano's reason for helping Aurora. But, he is always there to help her and support her. On top of it all he's a Sicarius - intense and deadly too. I definitely want to know MOAR about Cristiano and his deep desire to keep Aurora safe ;)

Traitor, we finally find out WHO the traitor(s) is and how they orchestrated the whole thing. It was sort of a surprise to be honest when I found out who all was involved.

The best part - Aurora's stupid-O-meter seemed to have toned down a LOT from book 2. She either did not have a lot of time to make stupid decisions (like she did in book 2) or she finally grew up/realized that there are smarter ways of doing things. You can decide ;)

Just to warn that the Hex boys are MIA in part of the book. There's a reason for that. No worries, they do return with a bang! I think it was a nice brief break in a way cuz while they are amazing sometimes all the bickering between the boys takes away from the gravity of the entire scene.

Looking forward to Book 4 now.

WARNING: not suitable for boring people (inside joke)

I've been waiting so long for this, I had a hard time calming down when I actually got it. And I need more so much right now DX

DID was a fun read and I LOVED seeing the Hex Boys and Aurora again. But despite the wait, I didn't get as much as I'd hoped. Because instead of six Hexy guys that I've come to love so much, I got introduced to another character: Cristiano Cacciatori. I must admit I didn't like him at all because he was taking me and Aurora away from my guys, but immediately after some... circumstances ... things changed in ways I don't feel comfortable admitting as a fangirl. (Love you Matthias)

The story was great, but felt more like a transition to something amazing (meaning it's in the next installment lol). Doesn't mean this was a filler, as we find out a whole other layer as to what happpened to Aurora before she came back to Gossamer Falls. There was a lot of action, 'romance' and romance, and with Aurora, nothing is boring. However, compared to the other two books, there wasn't an exact goal in the plot so much as Aurora finding out small things that lead to bigger plot twists without them actually showing up. If anything, the plot was more in hiding until... BAM.

I loved how the boys did show a little more of their vulnerable sides. It made me sad in some parts. Other characters could use a good strangling. And I couldn't. Stop. Laughing.

Aurora's a girl who couldn't sit down even if she tried, and I love it. Her lifestyle is as disastrous as her grades, and although I wanted to pin her down somewhere, I'm glad she never stood still. Nothing is better than a girl who takes charge (just ask Blake).

I definitely can't wait for the next one. Until then, I'll be rereading the books, fantasizing, attempting to answer all the questions I got teased with. -_- And where's Gloria, man?? Yup, definite recommend. Six hot guys with the cutest, (sometimes) most immature spiels, secret organizations that just want to kill you, a hundred plus year supply of Mandatum dirty laundry, and a hunky Italian psychopath that just makes things a little more... enticing.

A Rationalists Guide to Stupidity ?

Whether one believes acting stupid to be the antithesis of acting smart or intelligently [most of us?], or perhaps prefers to regard stupid behaviour as foolishness in the face of misplaced wisdom [Sternberg], this volume brings together a rich diversity of approaches and opinion to one of life's persistent questions. Some 15 authors gather here in an attempt to inform the reader what stupidity and smartness consist in, whilst providing a breadth of examples from both the empirical literature (laboratory studies, psychometric survey) and the popular press (typically involving embarrassed politicians). Over the course of some eleven chapters, a number of recurrent themes and proposals address the ways in which stupid behaviour might best be characterised, identified or defined, but of more interest (at least to me) was to also find a number of attempts to explain the behaviours so described. A number of the contributors point (directly or indirectly) to particular instances of `stupidity' which may well have been construed as having demonstrated adaptive, rather than maladaptive behaviour under different circumstances. In this respect, the reader is repeatedly lead to the view that personal trait labels such as smart, intelligent or stupid, should be viewed as context dependant terms, if not entirely context-specific, characterisations of human behaviour. In short, what might be considered stupid behaviour under one circumstance, might well be considered smart behaviour in another. So, why do these authors think that smart people can be so stupid?

Whilst psychometric correlates of the `smart' and `intelligent' are cited throughout the book (high IQ, high `G'-factor, either high or low scoring on various personality inventory components), no convincing data is presented in an attempt to directly correlate any independent measure of `stupidity' with psychological theory. As a result, perhaps, a significant number of this volume's authors sought to explain `stupid behaviour' as a person'sfailure to adapt to novel circumstances. However, this does little more work than to merely restate the antithesis: that `good' intelligence ontologically scaffolds in response to the need for increasingly flexible, dynamic behaviours in the face of challenges beyond the ken of one's current (and likely more reflexive) response repertoire. Using examples from business and industry, at least two chapters [Wagner and Austin & Deary] remind us that circumstances involving unfamiliar, ill-formed or poorly-defined problem spaces will more likely result in decisions thought stupid in hindsight, but they also point to conflict management as being a significant variable. Such findings serve to inform us that our attempts to transfer template problem-solutions (or indeed any previously successful habits of mind) to novel situations may later prove to have been a poor strategy (think Chamberlain & Hitler), or even complete folly (think Clinton & Lewinsky). Sociopersonal factors were also frequently cited as being of importance in explaining stupidity, with managerial incompetence in particular being shown to correlate with the (personal) emotional stability of managers, as did their degree of insensitivity to the needs and expectations of their subordinates and co-workers.

But if there is a recipe here for our avoiding stupid behaviour, such may be derived only from our interpreting the combined arguments and views put forward over the entirety of the volume. If it is true that we become good at what we spend most of our time doing (as I'm fond of telling my students is indeed the case) then this book suggests that we should devote a fair proportion of our time to recognising the significance of all our inter-, intra-, and extra-subjective personal circumstances. We need to be alert to identifying the critical changes in our situation(s) [Halpern]. We also need to be prepared to adapt to such changes (possibly in novel ways) without recourse to reflexive habit and reward by immediate gratification [Ayduk & Mischel]. Furthermore, we should strive to consider the power of uncertainty, such that we might then learn what might be (rather than concentrating our attention upon what one thinks currently `is') the case [Modeoveanu & Langer]. Furthermost, we must continue to construct and reconstruct past scenarios in such a way as to only attach to them, the theories and constraints that do the most explanatory work for us [Stanovich]. Without wishing to offer any guarantees here of increasing one's intelligence, the ideas circulating this volume nonetheless provide the reader with a window through which we might see a means of understanding, whilst reducing the frequency of, both our own and others' acts of stupidity.

About the Author
Aaron Dembski-Bowden's past in the RPG and video game industries is exactly that: the past. While some of his projects were nominated for various awards and he enjoyed a chunk of successful work, he quickly grew bored of trying to live a real life. Instead, he fled to the middle of the Northern Irish countryside to live the life of a full-time novelist, with his girlfriend Cathy and a tabby cat called Loken. He's been a full-time writer ever since he left uni in the early 2000s, which he attributes to a combination of raw talent, rugged good looks, blind luck - and absolutely no modesty. His first published work for the Black Library, Cadian Blood, is about - among other things - Cadians bleeding. He's been a deeply entrenched fan of Warhammer 40,000 since he ruined his copy of Space Crusade with the painting skills expected of an overexcited nine-year-old. When he's not writing, he's usually feeling guilty for not writing, going for long walks in expensive sunglasses, or getting annoyed at his Xbox. His main hobbies include reading anything within reach, fighting his cat, and helping people spell his surname. Aaron fears only the following things: 1. Responsibility. 2. Deadlines. 3. Monsters.

The Emperor protects!

A very well done story with characters you could like. Good story pacing. Plot elements that smoothly fit into the 40K u-verse (though I agree that some of the battles with the Traitor Marines had an element of "How was that possible ..."), but the elements were satisfying and made me feel (gasp) good at the end. Most of the 40K books are satisfying, but not many convey a feeling that humanity can triumph over evil through the actions of one or two mere mortals.

BTW, it also had some Astartes characters who didn't walk out and leave the Guard hanging. I sure wouldn't mind seeing this cast of characters in another novel, though it does not need to be set immediately after this book.

Last but not least, I just received this from Amazon five days ago as a pre-order, so I was surprised to see this is already out-of-print (as I write this). If you want it, try Amazon UK.

I am a fan of the author, and this is a solid first book.

You get great fighting, a Commisar to hate, a main character to root for, although not enough mechanical dog.

Well worth a pick up, and should be cheap to boot.

Hartigan conveys their attempts to make sense of how race matters in their lives and in Detroit generally. Rather than compiling a generic sampling of white views, Hartigan develops an ethnographic account of whites in three distinct neighborhoods--an inner city, underclass area; an adjacent, debatably gentrifying community; and a working-class neighborhood bordering one of the city's wealthy suburbs. In tracking how racial tensions develop or become defused in each of these sites, Hartigan argues that whites do not articulate their racial identity strictly in relation to a symbolic figure of black Otherness. He demonstrates, instead, that intraracial class distinctions are critical in whites' determinations of when and how race matters.

In each community, the author charts a series of names--"hillbilly," "gentrifier," and "racist"--which whites use to make distinctions among themselves. He shows how these terms function in everyday discourses that reflect the racial consciousness of the communities and establish boundaries of status and privilege among whites in these areas.

I especially enjoyed this book because I used to live in one of the areas mentioned. It gives insight into peoples thoughts and ideas.

I disliked having to wade through oceans of sociological jargon, but was willing to make the effort in order to discover some of the nuggets of interest.

"This second edition of the author's 2004 book Metaphorically Selling features an appendix of 25 new stories—38 pages—that illustrates how salespeople can effectively use metaphors.

Drawing on the author's personal experiences, this book focuses on effective business communication, particularly when selling products or attempting to secure corporate accounts. Metaphors, Miller writes, can give mundane explanations a shot of adrenaline and help make abstract ideas comprehensible. However, when overused or misapplied, they often fall on deaf ears. In the first section, Miller explains what a metaphor is and when to use it; in others, she describes how to determine the factors that make metaphors relevant and how to use them for impact. Another section focuses on how to acquire a "metaphor inventory." Miller's succinct summaries and exercises reinforce and test the reader's understanding of the material covered; at times, the format is reminiscent of 1980s self-help books. She effectively uses an abundance of examples throughout. For instance, when she discusses left-brain/right-brain theory, she portrays analytical thought processes as a character called Joe, and visual/intuitive processes as Robin, and uses them to clarify her points. In one chapter, she explains how to take abstractions and relate them to things known, a comparative technique often used to prevent listeners from falling asleep in lecture halls ("That savings is the equivalent of what it would take to build a shopping center for you in the Caribbean."). Another chapter focuses on effectively using visual images to describe abstract concepts and invisible products.

Get Anne's Book to Learn How to Make Your Point and Fascinate Others!

I first met Anne after reading the first edition of this wonderful "must have" book (I just ordered the update!). Anne's a skilled communications speaker, coach, and author who has trained thousands of senior executives and sales teams at Fortune 1000 companies to communicate effectively, successfully and memorably. She is the author of four books, including two on the power of visual language to persuade, sell, & explain anything to anyone.

If you want to learn how to communicate more effectively and increase sales and close more deals, then make sure to get Anne's book and read it over and over again. Hint- my favorite part of the book is towards the end where she shares potential metaphors for almost any need or situation.

So, in summary, I suggest that you pick up her book and learn how to use metaphors to dazzle your audience and have them remember what you said days, and even weeks later.

By the way, I use many of Anne's techniques on a weekly basis to negotiate deals and settle cases. During jury trials, I effectively trust Anne's approach to using metaphors to help win million dollar verdicts for my clients. Now, you can learn how to use metaphors too.

Immediate gratification

Hours after finishing Ann Miller's terrific new book, I had to stand before 20 cynical airline executives (now, that's redundant!) and share thoughts about the nature of leadership in turbulent times. With inspiration from the "Tall Lady," I was able to conjure up some stories, analogies and (especially) metaphors that seemed to turn the "I dare you to show me!" inro "Tell us more!" Ann's hints, techniques and just plain old common sense then sent me to her web site, where I was able to see Ann in action (on video) and enjoy her charismatic presence in front of audiences. Ann is a gifted story teller and insightful about the human condition. A fun and useful read!

Entertained and enlightened at the same time!

Ever read a book that you couldn't put down? Usually they are Who-Done-It's or snarky Tell-All's. But a How-To book? "The Tall Lady with the Iceberg" is unique: I can't remember a book that so consistently amused me while it EDUCATED me. Anne Miller is able to overwhelm me with logic AND wit simultaneously. I surrender. The topic is serious: sell your products with better communication. If she went no further than that I would yawn instantly, even though I might agree with the premise, or even admit I should be improving in that direction. What she does is stuff twice as many feathers into this pillow of a book and then constantly bang you over the head with optimism, practicality, great examples, and humor. We have all had working lunches; Ms. Miller is hosting a working slumber party. She models the very thing--metaphors--that she is trying to get us to use to slam dunk our communications. It works. I have a son-in-law who is a realtor. I know what I am giving him for Christmas.
